[edit] Plot
Lorelai tries to get Rory to tell her why she and Dean broke up, but Rory refuses to tell her. Instead, she packs everything that reminds her of Dean into a box. She tells her mother to take it away from the house, but instead Lorelei hides it in the hall closet.
The next morning, Rory wakes up Lorelei at 6 AM. She is determined to keep busy; she has already rearranged the furniture in the living room and made a list of errands for them to do. Lorelai tries to get Rory to talk to her and wallow, but she refuses.
The whole town rallies around Rory. Luke refuses to let Dean into the diner, and they wind up brawling in the middle of the street. Many people, including Miss Patty, Kirk, and Babette, try to comfort her, but she still refuses to talk about the breakup.
Rory decides to go to Madeline's big party in an attempt to get her mind off Dean. She takes Lane with her for moral support. At the party, Lane meets Henry, a future Korean doctor. Despite the fact that he is her parents' ideal boy, Lane realizes that she likes him. Rory ends up talking to Tristan, who has just been dumped by Summer. They kiss, and Rory starts to cry and leaves the party.
Meanwhile, Lorelai borrows Sookie's car and goes to visit Max. They both admit that they miss each other, but refuse to act on it. Both sitting quietly they eventually push the table between them out of the way and kiss each other passionately. The scene cuts away as Max is pulling off Lorelai's shirt and they end up having sex. Afterwards they agree to start talking again.
When Lorelai goes home, she finds Rory in the living room in her pajamas eating ice cream out of the carton. She tells Lorelai that she is ready to wallow.
