The Boyfriends are a indie four piece from London, England.

First coming to prominence in June 2005 after becoming the first band ever to play the newly-christened John Peel Stage at that year's Glastonbury Festival, they have been likened to The Smiths by the British press. This drew interest from Morrissey who, after going to one of their shows, was supposedly so impressed he offered them the supporting slot on his 2006 European tour on the spot.

The band have been quiet since late 2006, following a tour in support of The Divine Comedy. As of 2007 their record company, Boobytrap, has gone bust and the band's website no longer exists. Boobytrap Records boss "Baz" implied that the band had split due to poor management in an interview with Playlouder.[1]

David Barnett was confirmed on the 12th of March 2007 as the new bassist for the band Luxembourg.
