The Bird and the Worm is the first single taken from The Used's album Lies for the Liars. You can listen to the song on AOL here by clicking on the link that says Listen to 'The Bird and the Worm', though this version of the song is shorter than the real version (3:19) as it cuts out the screaming part. Production features many sounds utilized on previous Used albums including: a creaking door (00:10), pizzicato and violin string melodies (01:20), deep baritone chants (1:30), barely audible whispers (00:50), backwards tracking of shakers (01:50), possible bass tapping (1:30), and even flicks of the headstock string extension to Quinn Allman's guitar neck (02:17). The amount of screaming is minimal for Bert McCracken and some instances show voice strain.
