The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch is a talk show on CNBC hosted by Donny Deutsch. The program covers a wide range of issues and topics, ranging from celebrity interviews, discussions of somewhat controversial issues (i.e. child pornography, video game violence). It differs from other CNBC programming as it does not directly cover any finance or financial-related issues/topics. On the show's 1-year anniversary, CNBC renewed the program for an additional 3 years (until 2009). [1]

The Big Idea Mission Statement

Power meets power, every night on “the Big Idea.” Donny Deutsch, the maverick CEO who built a multi-billion dollar advertising and media business goes one-on-one with today’s power players from business, politics, media and sports. Donny breaks down the brands, management strategies and tools for success which have empowered the world’s most influential leaders.

[edit] Criticism

  • Video game publication editor John Davison and Columbine victim Brooks Brown claim they were misled about the focus of the show filmed June 28, 2005, and that their comments were edited to suit the show's (undisclosed) anti-videogame bias[2].
  • Bernard Goldberg claims that for his interview, aired on July 21, 2005, the debate was stacked against him and was edited to make him look vociferous and out-of-control.[3]
