[edit] Plot Summary

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

As Batman continues his nightly crime fighting, he soon discovers that his daytime image as Bruce Wayne has been suffering, after learning that Wayne Industries isn’t the best choice to sponsor the Children’s Orphanage, a charity that Bruce’s father always sponsored due to his lifestyle.

While dealing with trying to convince the mayor to allow him to sponsor it, he is also forced to take a different kind of battle to the skies, after having a run-in with the latest villain in town, Firefly. Firefly, using heat-inspired weapons such as lasers, as well as an advanced jetpack, seems to be sabotaging several different companies. After the second fight with Firefly ends with Batman falling from the sky, he awakens from unconsciousness the next day, late for his meeting with the city council concerning the sponsorship of the orphanage. This does not go over too well with them, of course.

Putting on his cape and cowl once again, Batman researches the recent companies that have been attacked by Firefly, and notices a pattern, connecting Firefly with Wayne Industries' rival company, the very same that claimed sponsorship of the orphanage. Taking to the skies once again, Batman meets up against Firefly once again, this time managing to damage his jetpack and forcing him to land. On a rooftop, the two have a very brief fight, resulting in Firefly being knocked out with a simple punch to the jaw.

By the morning, Firefly is found, tied up and hanging from the rival company’s building, with a sign that reads, “Employee of the Month”. The company is then put under investigation with charges of hiring Firefly to attack the other companies, and loses the sponsorship, which is given to Bruce.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Quotes

  • Batman: Working late?
Firefly: The night shift. Like you, Batman.
  • Batman: You're full of surprises.
Firefly: I'm Firefly. Get it. Fire and Fly.
  • Firefly: Well, well, so the bat has wings.
  • Firefly: You got some wings. Let's play some chicken. Oh no. (Batman thorws Firefly with tear gas) Tear gas! I'll give you something to cry about!
  • Batman: He's toying with me. [Firefly fires the heat ray that it hits one of the wings on Batman's jetpack.]
    Firefly: So long, Batman.
  • Firefly: (to his boss on the phone) Yeah, I'm watching it. No problem. My usual rate...I understand. Like the others, Wayne Industries will go down in flames.
  • Batman: Firefly.
Firefly: Batman. I see you survive your crack up.
    Batman: I know about GothCorp.
Firefly: What? Uh, is that a rock band or something?
Batman: For someone who gets his kicks torching tech companies, hard to believe you never heard of them.
  • Batman: You're done, Firefly. You're cooked.
Firefly: Says who? No one touches me in the sky.
  • Firefly: (to Batman about his jetpack) Handles nice, but is doesn't have horse power.
  • Batman: Face facts, Firefly. You've been burned.
