The Best of The Band, Vol. II was, as its title suggests, the second volume of greatest hits by The Band, released in October 1999 on Rhino Records. Bringing together eleven tracks taken from the three albums released with the group's latter-day incarnation, it attempted to paint a portrait of the group without Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson. In some respects, it succeeds as a greatest hits album. For example, each track coming from the first two releases is the best of what they had to offer. In other respects, it fails. For example, only one track from the group's last album, Jubilation, is present.

One track, "Young Blood", had been available in the United States only on a tribute album to Doc Pomus, though it appeared on the British and Japanese pressings of 1996's High On The Hog.

The last track, "She Knows," is a live track sung by Manuel.
