The Aspect-Emperor is to be the newest novel set in the world of the trilogy The Prince of Nothing. The original trilogy was written by R. Scott Bakker and included The Darkness That Comes Before, The Warrior Prophet, and The Thousandfold Thought, published in 2004, 2005, and 2006 respectively. Bakker says he is not yet sure if The Aspect-Emperor and its following novel(s) will be a dualogy or a trilogy. At a book-signing in 2006, he said it "felt like" it would be a pair of dualogies.
