The Arousal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Arousal was Pakistan's first ever Anarchist newsletter founded and published by a group of ex-Socialist and ex-Marxist student activists in 1988.
The group was led by Nadeem F. Paracha who went on to become a famous and iconic music and cultural critic. The Arousal was published and distributed free of cost in Karachi and Lahore and became notorious for its mocking attacks and madcap articles aimed at the country's Feudal and Capitalist elite and many orthodox politico-religious parties. The Arousal was also allaigned with British anarchist group Class War.
After The Arousal's offices were repeatedly raided by the police, Nadeem F. Paracha folded the newsletter and joined mainstream journalism.
