The Always Open Mouth is the third album by the Colorado band Fear Before the March of Flames. It was released on Tuesday, September 19th, 2006.

The album marks a very different sound for Fear Before the March of Flames: whereas their previous two albums concentrated much more on raw, powerful Hardcore music, this album contains a much more experimental side, such as more emphasis on antiphony between the lead singer and guitarist; a considerable lesser amount of screaming; layered guitar chords (a second guitarist was added to the band before the recording of this album); and many electronic sounds used with heavily-distorted or otherwise-effected guitars and synthesizers, or sequencers and drum machines, giving it a more Industrial feel. As a result, it is not as hard or fast as their previous two albums, but instead, is more experimental and well-crafted.

[edit] Notes

  • The album was leaked onto Internet, Torrents and P2P networks on September 11th, as a final mastered and good quality version.
  • The CD contains 15 tracks, a bonus video, more of a trailer, about the Fear Before the March of Flames DVD due out in spring entitled "Absolute Future, Absolute Past (First and Last tracks of the cd), and two booklets. One booklet containing photos, and a second "hidden" booklet featuring lyrics. The second booklet can be found behind the back track listing page. [1]
  • The tracks "Mouth" and "Dog Sized Bird" mark the first Fear Before the March of Flames songs to feature their titles in the lyrics, unlike all songs from both previous albums as well as the miscellaneous songs "237" and "A Shoreline Perspective."
  • The television advertisements for the album featured the internet character “Danny” (The Tourettes Guy) from the infamous tourettesguy.com site. In the commercial Danny is reading a book when he hears the album being blasted on an unseen stereo. This sends him in a screaming fit, for it to be turned down. The was aired a number of times on MTV.

[edit] Song Information

  • The song "Taking Cassandra to the End of the World Party" is reference to Cassandra in Greek Mythology as the "unheeded prophet".
