The episode begins with a bloody Trey being rushed to the emergency room. Ryan, Marissa, Seth and Summer trail behind. When a police officer asks if she had discharged the weapon which shot Trey, Ryan advises Marissa not to say anything. Shortly after which he drops to the ground and wakes up. Three months have hence passed since the events that have occurred at Trey's house. Trey has since been in a coma.

Sandy discusses matters with the D.A. He is not convinced that Marissa was the one who shot Trey however as he believes that Marissa was covering up for Ryan as he was previously held in prison.

Meanwhile, a concerned Julie is worried that Marissa's chances of attending college the following year will be jeopardized due to the events that transpired three months earlier.

Elsewhere, at Suriak, Kirsten confesses her alcoholism one final time. An impressed patient, Charlotte tells Kirsten that she understands her situation as her father was also very oppressive, and had driven her to alcoholism as well.

Several days later, Trey wakes up from his coma. And is coerced by Julie into taking her monetary offer in exchange for blaming Ryan for his injuries. He begrudingly accepts.

Ryan tries to flee Newport with the help of his friends but eventually gets arrested and ends up in jail. Desperate to clear Ryan's name, Marissa visits Trey and requests that he confesses what really happened to the authorities. He apologises for everything he put Marissa through and agrees to redeem himself.

When Ryan is released from prison, he rushes to the hospital, but finds Trey gone. He then runs to the bus station to bid his brother farewell, who is sitting on a bus to Las Vegas. They silently wave to each other as the bus drifts away. Ryan then meets Marissa by the pier and reflects on his relationship with Trey.
