[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

That morning in Pacha's hut, Kuzco awakens to find a tree frog on his bed, bringing up his fear of frogs stemming from an incident during his childhood. He is unwilling to listen to Pacha's insistence that all creatures are worthwhile. Yzma plots to turn Kuzco into a red-eyed tree frog, by having Kronk lace a pie with the relevant potion and feeding it to him.

Following the transformation, Yzma, disguised as "Principal Amzy", takes over Mr. Moleguaco's science class and uses Kuzco as one of a number of tree frogs for the class to dissect. Kronk, ending up with the transformed emperor in front of him, decides to let him go. Kuzco frees the other frogs in an attempt to cover his own escape, resulting in him seeing himself as a hero, Red-Eyed Tree Frog Man, complete with theme song.

Kuzco stops a cartload of weapons from hitting a child by wrapping his tongue around the wheel. Malina is still unimpressed with him though, and Yzma plots once more to use her as bait, unaware that Kuzco is listening in on her and Kronk. When Kronk puts Malina in danger, Kuzco simply lets her fall through the broken bridge, perhaps to get what she deserves after saying, "You are so unbelievable!".

After the potion wears off, Kuzco regales Chaca and Tipo with his story... but not before the "deleted bug-eating scene."

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Trivia

  • UK Premiere: 24 March 2006
  • Kuzco's line "Pacha don't preach" is clearly a reference to a well-known 1986 Madonna song.
  • Kuzco cuts off Pacha's speech in the middle of the phrase "Circle of Life", a reference to Disney's The Lion King.
  • Kronk's good and bad advisors from the first movie make a first appearance as he is confronted with the prospect of dissecting Kuzco.
  • Kuzco freeing the class frogs is reminiscent of Elliott doing the same in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
  • Kuzco gets turned into: a red-eyed tree frog.
  • "Pull the lever" gag: A giant piranha drops down and bites onto Yzma. Yzma and Kronk are wearing hats and glasses as they enter the car, which they are told to remove and promptly lose. The ride stops temporarily at the top of a loop-de-loop. Yzma admits that the rollercoaster is simply for fun.
  • Kuzco's doodles: None.
  • End credits: Kuzco in his tree frog form eating bugs.
  • The song, Red eyed tree frog man, is a reference to the Spider-Man theme song.
  • This is the first episode with a musical number.
