The 30 Cent Players
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 30 Cent Players are a Canadian sketch comedy troupe based in Victoria, British Columbia. Their shows are produced by Victoria-based Three Schooner Productions.
Their shows are a blend of live and filmed sketches, with material that covers many styles of comedy (satire, parody, malapropisms, etc.). Since their debut in January 2005, they have performed regularly in Victoria, and have made several festival appearances. They were broadcast nationally by CBC Radio One in July 2006 on the program "So You Think You're Funny", and subsequently were chosen for the "Best Of" episode that aired later that month. Their videos have been featured on YouTube and Grouper.com, as well as Rooftop Comedy.
They were nominated for a 2007 "M" Award for Favourite Comedy Act by Monday Magazine - finishing as 1st runner-up in that category, and were one of the opening acts for The Bruce McCulloch Project at SF Sketchfest 2007.
