Talk:The Vampire Chronicles
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
nowhere in this artical is it mentioned that several of these books have been turned into movies. to find out this information, a reader would need to go to the individual articals on each movie, and read carefully. this artical would benefit from this addition.--Whiteknight 06:50, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- So what's the problem? Why do you even have to consult with us on the talk page? I say, be bold.

[edit] Merging?
Hi all,
So this page contains summaries of all of the books in the series... but there are also links to individual pages about individual books that contain (different, as far as I can tell) summaries of the books. What do people think about merging the summaries from this page into the summaries on individual book pages? (I know, "be bold," but since this would be a relatively major edit I wanted to see if anyone had a good reason to be strongly against it before moving forward.) I'll give it a few days for comments and then go ahead and start making changes if no one objects.

- My vote is vehemently in favor of this proposal. There's no logical reason to have one set of summaries on this page, and then another set on the individual book pages, that's just messy. If you're willing to do such a major edit, I say do it. =) - Vaelor 07:24, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

- I've been working on it sporadically. More than halfway done now! :) Hbackman 22:55, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- My vote is vehemently not in favor of this proposal. I think that a brief summary of each book on the Vampire Chronicles page is a good idea, and helpful. The summaries on each of the separate book pages are long, detailed, and contiain massive spoilers. On this page, they seem more like back-of-the-book summaries, which is helpful for those readers who are interested in learning about the Chronicles but not spoiling the books. - The summaries here are also horribly non-encyclopedic praising the novels and the author. I've attempted to remove some of this non-point-of-view but it is far from complete. Jeff schiller 12:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- My vote is not in favor of this proposal. I quite agree with PantherFoxie; the summaries are more compact and certainly much more helpful to readers who want just a basic idea of the books. The goal of an encycolpedia isn't just to give you links to where you can find information. But still Jeff Schiller is right in that it needs some POV cleaning up. - I favor summarizing generic aspects of The Vampire Chronicles, i.e. the Vampiric Powers section on The Queen of the Damned page, the major characters of The Vampire Chronicles, the timeline and history of The Vampire Chronicles, etc. However, each book should continue to have its own page, providing a summary of that particular story, characters and themes appearing in that book, actors and actresses portraying roles in the movie version, etc. FeralDruid 19:46, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Strong Disagree Don't merge them. That would reveal several spoilers, besides this page would become huge. Disagree with the merge. xCentaur | ☎ 11:51, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Featured?
Hey I just got this crazy idea... maybe not so crazy, but anyways, I think this article is very good, and really could stand a chance as a Featured Article after some cleaning up. What do you think? LestatdeLioncourt 14:09, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Has anyone seen the movie Queen Of The Damned?
They diviated (is my spelling wrong?)from the book quite a bit. The movie had Marius as Lestat's maker when it was really Magnus and Leatat didn't meet Marius until 10 years after he became a vampire. And what was up with the whole Jesse/Lestat romance thingy in the movie, in the book he only met Jesse once at the concert and then after she became a vampire when him and Akasha reunited with the rest of them at Maharet's place. It was still a great movie though. I am currently listening to the Queen Of The Damned soundtrack as I type, lol. Why wasn't Mekare mentioned at all in the movie? I hope to see more movies on the Chronicles.(I don't think there are but is there any other movies on the chronicles other then Interview With The Vampire and Queen Of The Damned)Does anyone know where I can get the book Blood and Gold? been looking all over.
[edit] This entire page plagiarized from Anne Rice's web site?
The Vampire Chronicles appeared on my watchlist recently, as having been updated. In reviewing the change, I realized the descriptions of the books in the wiki are taken, word for word, from the descriptions given on Anne's web site. For example, compare the The Vampire Chronicles#Memnoch the Devil entry with the Memnoch page on Anne's site. Question: Isn't this a violation of the copyright posted at the bottom of each page on her web site, and therefore a violation of Wikipedia policies regarding the posting of copyrighted material? FeralDruid 11:27, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Most definitely so. All copyvio material must be deleted on sight. —LestatdeLioncourt 17:58, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Celerity?
Does anyone remember the term 'celerity' being used at all in The Vampire Chronicles? I know the term comes from Vampire: The Masquerade, I don't remember Anne Rice using the term in any of her books. I wonder if other editors are getting the two confused. FeralDruid 18:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
