Talk:The Ultimate Superman Collection
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“ a brand new cut of Superman II featuring almost entirely unseen footage. ”
Does the film feature footage that has not been seen by the majority of people, or is the new cut composed primarily of this footage? --HughL [talk?]/[contribs] •
- The new cut is composed primarily of this footage, as described in the article (around 75%). I can see the slight ambiguity but it's clear enough I think —EatMyShortz 18:03, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Major changes
Recently, some major changes were made [1], I believe they were based on this article. Specifically, they were the removal of "Look, Up in the Sky" and changing the info so that Superman: The Movie has 4 discs instead of 3. The changes have since been reverted. I would like to point out that this article has no indication that it pertains to the 14-disc box set. It refers only to a separate 4-disc set of Superman: The Movie. In fact I'd be willing to bet that the fourth disc in this set is not part of the 14-disc box set. The article states:
The set also includes three documentaries and a TV special on the making of the film and the Superman legend, restored scenes, screen tests, nine vintage Max Fleischer Superman cartoons, and the 1951 movies Superman and the Mole-Men, starring TV Superman George Reeves.
My bold - what I've highlighted contradicts what we already know about the box set. Another warner interview states that all seventeen Fleischer cartoons were in here, and we've been told nothing about the George Reeves movies. So I'm assuming the fourth disc from the Superman 1 4-disc set contains half of the Fleischer toons and the George Reeves movies, while this fourth disc is not included in the 14-disc set which this article is about. I'd say that a separate disc is for the 17 Fleischer cartoons. For now, don't change the article unless new information comes out specifically pertaining to this 14-disc box set. —EatMyShortz 18:11, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Question
Does this have the cases shown?
- What? --Jamdav86 21:20, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Will it come with the cases it showed in the middle of the pages for the 5 movies?
- Dunno. I assume so, as it looks like it's a big box that you slot DVDs in, like the Futurama box sets. --Jamdav86 22:10, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's more like the how original Smallville Seasons 1-4 (not season 5) were packaged -- a rather large plastic piece with a hinge, and there's one disc on each side. Kind of like a book, but with DVDs. It's very dissimilar to the Futurama sets. --Mike 00:44, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I've just taken a real-life picture of it, maybe it'll give a better idea of how it is put together. --Mike 01:19, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, my mistake. Perhaps the images here conflict with WP:FU, since they have little relation to the actual set. --Jamdav86 16:59, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

- Given the fact that this is an article about the collection and these individual cases are not included, I don't think they can be considered "fair use" for this article. Rhindle The Red 17:56, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disc Order
I've noticed that there's some slight difference between the disc order in which the mini-book lists them, and the order the set is manufactured in in the first place. The promo shot (on the top of the article) and the article itself both have a slightly different order to it; even the promo shot on the cardboard back of the tin box had a slightly different order and pictures. To be even more picky, Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman doesn't have the same verticle disc label as the others, but rather they seem to have retained the individual releases' label (this is also contrary to the promo shot). I guess since it's not a terribly large difference, I'll go ahead and change it according to the real set; but I thought I'd give an explanation in the Talk page in case anyone wonders about my edits and only bases their knowlege on the promo shot. --Mike 18:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Incorrect statements
I've deleted a few statements that are incorrect. First, the article stated that the set wasn't available at major retailers after Dec. 25. I think this may more be a reflection of one being unable to find copies of the set before Christmas, but the set is still widely available. Second, there are a couple of references to the set's Disc 14 only being available in the US. This is incorrect as the Canadian release of the set also includes the disc. Is it possible this refers to Region 1 only? If so, the statement can be put back. 23skidoo 22:23, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- I believe it's Region 1-only, yes. Also, speaking of incorrect statements, I just removed the Justice League Video Game trailer from Superman III's special features. I just popped the disc in (despite not liking Superman III, but hey who said I had to like it to correct facts), and there's no video game trailer on it. Yes, this *is* the correct Deluxe Edition, all the other features are on it, I'm guessing somebody just wrote it had a video game trailer when it doesn't. --Mike 08:02, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- That trailer is in the set, but it's on another disc -- I think the one with the You Will Believe documentary. 23skidoo 19:31, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
