Talk:The Super Bowl Shuffle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is within the scope of WikiProject Songs, an attempt to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to songs on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, you can edit the article attached to this page, or visit the project page, where you can join the project and/or contribute to the discussion.

The two articles could be merged, but I think "Super Bowl Shuffle" should be the title of the article - I think that's the better-known search term / descriptor for the cultural phenomenon. Frequent references are made to the song itself but I've never heard the "Shufflin' Crew" invoked outside of the context of the song. Gorilla Jones 03:15, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Onion article

Also, the parodic newspaper "The Onion" featured an article a few years back about the Bears returning to the studio to record their sophmore album, rumored to be a bit "darker" and more thoughtful than the first. There's also mention made of how, this time around, there won't be a referee whistling and tossing a yellow flag to bleep out the word "ass." "Censorship is slavery," one of the Crew says.

Someone should find a link to this and place it within the entry.

[edit] Clever

Someone is very funny. Who ever wrote :

"backing the Bears' claim, in the chorus of the song, that they were not there to start no trouble - they were there to do the Super Bowl Shuffle."

is a comedic genius. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by L.A.F. (talkcontribs).

  • lol I was just about to point that out myself. Hilarious section. Aplomado talk 01:33, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Inappropriate" tag

I don't see any rationale or discussion on the "inappropriate" tag that was added a few days ago, so I'm removing it. It's not productive to simply slap a tag on an article and be on your merry way. If there's a concern about the tone of the article, the person who has that concern needs to articulate it here so we can work toward a solution. Gorilla Jones 12:41, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Links to lyrics and video

I have removed the links to the lyrics and the video, pursuant to a complaint received from the copyright holder. The lyrics and video sites are almost certainly infringing on copyright, and it does not do for us to be contributing to copyright infringement by providing links to them. Sorry. Kelly Martin (talk) 21:58, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Also, because of the increasing popularity of Wikipedia, these links also make it easier for the copyright holders to find them and complain to those other sites. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Imitators (49ers)

I looked up the list of singers of "We're the 49ers" from the link below. They were all on the team together for the 1984 season only. I haven't been able to find a date for the release of the song, but I doubt it followed the Super Bowl Shuffle.
