[edit] Neologism

Are there some reliable references somewhere that "The Steal" is widely known as the name for this event? I've never heard of it. I'd say that Red Sox blogs don't count, but some mainstream press accounts would serve as reasonable references. —Cleared as filed. 21:21, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that this content should be merged into the description of Game 4 in 2004 ALCS. There isn't much room for this to be expanded, and the title itself appears to be a neologism. Any thoughts? —Cleared as filed. 17:24, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

I have mixed feelings on this. I believe that among Boston Red Sox fans, the term 'The steal" absolutely positively has singular meaning and belongs. I think that among MOST baseball fans, it also has some relevance and significance. Let me see if I can find some reference backup. if the answer is NO, I would suggest making this a subsection of BOTH the Red Sox page AND the 2004 ALCS page. If there are any refs, I suggest leaving it standalone. Phantasmo 18:10, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that this should stay. Google "The Steal" and "Red Sox", and you'll find dozens of blog and more mainstream articles referrring to this specific event as described. Most are Red Sox centric, admittedly, but as among the single most significant moments in the history of the franchise, I endorse keeping it as a standalone. Phantasmo 18:14, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
But what's the point of having a separate article? It's not likely to be expanded past what it is now, and the details of this significant moment are missing from the more appropriate article, 2004 ALCS. There's not so much to this that it shouldn't be where more people are likely to read it. —Cleared as filed. 23:34, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm...perhaps. I guess I could go either way. Is perhaps a merge/redirect the best course in this case? Phantasmo 14:44, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't think that "The Steal" merits its own article; as a Sox fan I've never heard of it, and Googling just "The Steal" does not yield any relevant results. In addition, there are at least two other important steals in Boston sports history that could be called "The Steal" (referring to steals by John Havlicek and Larry Bird), although none relating to the Red Sox (who historically don't steal many bases). [edit] Merge proposal

Proposing merge of Dave House into main article; both articles as they stand are pretty short, and Dave House is notable only for being in this band, so I don't see the need for separate articles on each of the band members just yet. ~Matticus TC 20:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merging Dave House with the Steal

I do not agree that Dave House / The Steal should be merged. I created a page for Dave House becuase I saw there was one for The Steal and I couldn't believe that the members other projects wern't even mentioned. In this case when the artist has sold more records solo or in other bands than the band you are mentioning and the same goes for the other members I think it is important to keep them as seperate articles. When someone else who knows a bit more about the history of the members updates my page i'm sure it will become clearer
