[edit] Article Name Disagreement
Why is this the only episode of the series named Episode Two: The Series Has Landed (Futurama episode) instead of only The Series Has Landed. It is redirected from The Series Has Landed to Episode Two: The Series Has Landed (Futurama episode), shouldn't that be reversed? --javoec 03:58, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- As far as my understanding goes "Episode Two: The Series Has Landed" is the correct, full title of the episode, unlike the other episodes. Hope that helps. Stardust8212 21:28, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe you're right, because in the DVD that's the name of the episode... but since that's the only one... well, nevermind.--javoec 23:33, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I added the words "Episode Two" where needed. Hope that's OK...--Salvax 21:09, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Javoec. It seems obvious to me that its title on the DVD was just a goof. There's no reason why it should be the only one with the episode number in the front. I vote to change it. DocNox 01:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

IMO its a refrence to the apollo landings (given) but also to the fact that the series got picked up after Space Pilot 3000--kejoxen 19:34, 06 June 2006 (UTC)

- I don't think it should be changed just because "we think the people who created it didn't know what they're talking about" I think it is much more likely that it was done on purpose and, as I have stated elsewhere previously, that it was actually meant to be a parody of the Star Wars franchise naming scheme (i.e. Episode IV: A New Hope). Whatever we may think, this is the episode title and unless someone can prove otherwise there is no good reason to change it. /$.02 Stardust8212 02:11, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Okay, here's the summary of all the different places where the name appears:
Official:
- On the outside case for Volume 1, Disc 1, all episodes are prefaced with "Episode X:", where "X" is the episode number. This suggests that the episode's name is just "The Series Has Landed".
- On the inside of the case, the episodes have the number after the name; in this case, the full line reads "The Series Has Landed — Episode 2". This further suggests that the episode's name is just "The Series Has Landed".
- In the DVD menu, the second selection is "Episode Two: The Series Has Landed".
Unofficial:
- TV.com calls it "The Series Has Landed". [1]
- GotFuturama.com calls it "The Series Has Landed". [2]
- killbots.com calls it "Episode Two: The Series Has Landed". [3]
- Futurama Collectorama calls it "The Series Has Landed". [4]
Totals:
- "The Series Has Landed": 5
- "Episode Two: The Series Has Landed": 2
So... yeah. Sorry, but it seems like "The Series Has Landed" has the consensus. Official sources trump unofficial sources, but even then, "Episode Two" is trumped two-to-one. Unless someone call whip out some Fox network press releases that make reference to it with the "Episode Two" prefix, I move that the article be renamed. EVula 02:56, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- Good to know, I don't own the first season DVD's myself so perhaps I spoke out of place but the question still bothers me as to why it has "Episode Two:" on that one episode, it doesn't seem to me like an error that wouldn't be noticed before production. I no longer have an opinion on this matter because I can't make up my mind. Also, I'm sorry for shooting my mouth off without proper research earlier. Stardust8212 03:06, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- No worries; I was just about to defend you when I pulled out the DVD and saw (initially) that you appeared to be right, before I looked at all the other names. :) I find it odd, too, that there would be such a discrepancy, but since the DVD cover art and menu were done at the same time, it can't even be argued that the episode was renamed; given the fact that there is much more evidence for the shorter title, it appears that the DVD menu name is just someone doing their own thing. *shrug* EVula 03:10, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- I had forgotten about this argument, and since in 3 months no one else has objected I went ahead and changed it. -- DocNox 02:34, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
