The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause is a 2006 sequel to The Santa Clause and The Santa Clause 2.
Santa is faced with double challenge. He tries to keep his family happy and stop Jack Frost from taking over Christmas.
Tim Allen returns as Scott Calvin (a.k.a. Santa Claus) for a follow-up to the two popular Christmas comedies. This time, he struggles to keep his family happy while battling Jack Frost (Martin Short, Allen's Jungle 2 Jungle co-star), who is plotting to take over Christmas. Scott's family gets larger, as he meets his critical in-laws (Ann-Margret and Alan Arkin, joining the cast), and has to rebuild the entire Christmas town to look like a Canadian village so they will be unaware of the identity of their new son-in-law. Santa also learns that the new Mrs. Claus (Elizabeth Mitchell) is expecting a baby. Based upon the trailer, Jack Frost and Santa are sent back in time where the Santa before the present day Santa falls off the roof. Jack Frost puts on the coat, and becomes the new Santa.
Production on this live action sequel began mid-November 2005 with Michael Lembeck directing from a screenplay by Ed Decter and John Strauss, all returning from The Santa Clause 2. Most of the previous sequel's cast is also back, including Wendy Crewson (Scott's ex-wife Laura Miller), Judge Reinhold (her husband Neil), Eric Lloyd (Scott's son Charlie), Spencer Breslin (now head elf Curtis), Aisha Tyler (mother nature), and Liliana Mumy (Scott's niece Lucy). However, David Krumholtz, who previously played the cranky head elf Bernard in the first two movies does not make an appearance in this third installment due to contractual issues.
Production was completed in February 2006. The movie will be in theaters November 3, 2006.
The film is rated G by the MPAA.

- Jack Frost was seen wearing a black and white outfit, with a pale and white look, possible referring to Jack Skellington, from the film The Nightmare Before Christmas, another character believed that he could take over Santa Claus.
- In the trailer, a soundtrack from The Nightmare Before Christmas is heard in the background.
- Aly & AJ have a new song that will be in this movie called Greatest Time of Year.
- There are rumors that the Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End trailer will premiere before the film according to the IMDB message boards.
- According to the novelization of the film, Bernard will appear, but he will not be played by David Krumholtz due to his conflicts with Numb3rs
