[edit] She/he/they

Wow, I figured a neutral compromise would/should always win out.  :: Salvo (talk) 18:06, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't want to start a revert war here, but there really is no way to make this sentence read nicely without a pronoun short of rewriting the entire paragraph. -TPIRFanSteve 07:06, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree with you on the ungrammatical use of 'they' as a singular pronoun. That's why I removed a pronoun altogether in that spot, since in that spot it's clear that the bid in question belongs to the hypothetical contestant. I find it interesting that when other users reverted to the pronounless format, you continued talking about the misuse of 'they' in your edit summary. Did you realize it doesn't say 'they' anymore? To me, the sentence sounds just fine without a pronoun.
Also, I do think that equity and gender awareness is necessary in all writing, especially in a resource like Wikipedia. There may be rare occasions where using a masculine term to describe all people is unavoidable, but in my opinion, avoiding the use of masculine-universal terms is generally a good idea. There's almost always a better solution than using the singular 'they;' it just takes a moment of thought. To steadfastly apply rules of grammar while ignoring other valid concerns regarding the shortcomings of English strikes me as a little unproductive. Just my two cents' worth.  :: Salvo (talk) 17:05, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moving Australian The Price is Right to it's own article

I have put up a request notice for the Australian section of this article to be moved to it's own article. There is more than enough information for it to be moved. Then just leave a link to the new moved article in the Australian section. What is everyone elses views on this? Lakeyboy 10:36, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you whoever made the move. It's much better off now except I see it has been tagged with cleanup status though. Lakeyboy 10:54, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
