A similar scenario occurred in the 2006 series with the 2 same teams at the Bell Center in Montreal. Carolina won in 6 and admitted after gaining the cup, that Montreal was the most difficult team to beat. This goes without mentioning the former rivalry between Montreal and the Whalers (former Hurricanes) where in 93, carried by Frank Pietrangelo, the Whalers nearly defeated Montreal. Nonetheless, that year, Montreal won the cup.
