[edit] Why did magic go away?

Teosofical texts suggests, that when God created this planet, He created school for us "Baby Spirits". And in this school are 7 basic subjects of study. What happened is, that we humans switced lessons from "Astral Abilities" to "Practical Intelligence", and so, as a side-issue, Magic Went Away.
Of course, this is merely MY interpretation of some classical texts by HB and others

[edit] Focus

The focus of this article isn't very clear. Is it about the novel The Magic Goes Away? Or about the theme "magic as a nonrenewable resource"? IMHO it should focus on the novel, with the other stories cited as background. We might have another article about the fictional universe and themes.

Re characters, I'm fairly sure Aran from "Glass Dagger" appears nowhere in the novel. Does anyone have the name of the wizard who went to Australia? He isn't mentioned, and should be.

The goo has a nucleus, so it isn't a bacterium (which is prokaryotic). An amoeba, I think.
