THEhotel is a high-end 43-story 1,117 suite hotel owned and operated by MGM Mirage. It is located on the Las Vegas Strip within the Mandalay Bay complex. While marketed as a separate hotel, THEhotel is an integrated expansion of Mandalay Bay. THEhotel, while looking similar to Mandalay Bay on the outside, sports a very different look on the inside, featuring a more modern decor and contemporary/trendy motif. THEhotel abandons the tropical theme found throughout the rest of Mandalay Bay but maintains an atmosphere unique to its own spaces.

Most rooms in THEhotel are suites of at least 750 square feet. The suites are composed of two rooms, one living room with a large widescreen LCD TV, and the bedroom, with a flat panel tube TV. The suites also contain two bathrooms. The standard bathroom contains a toilet and a sink/vanity. The master bathroom has a bathtub, sink/vanity, shower, toilet, and widescreen LCD TV. While most rooms have a separate shower and tub, some master bathrooms in rooms located adjacent to the elevator core contain a combination shower/tub. Similar to Wynn Las Vegas, all rooms have two widescreen LCD TVs and one flat-screen CRT TV.

On the top floor of THEhotel is a restaurant and nightclub called MiX. It is an Alain Ducasse restaurant famous for its French and American dishes as well as a spectacular view of most of the entire Las Vegas Strip.

[edit] History

THEhotel at Mandalay Bay

When the tower opened in 2004, it offered the largest standard suites in Las Vegas.[citation needed]

In 2006, the lettering at the top of the tower changed to "THEhotel" to distinguish the property. Formerly, the lettering was identical to the "Mandalay Bay" letters at the top of the original tower.

Elia Aboumrad, a finalist on season two of Bravo's Top Chef, is an assistant room chef.
