Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a first-person adventure game developed by Frogwares and published in 2006 on DVD for Windows. The game follows an original plotline as Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. John H. Watson investigate a series of strange disappearances related to the Cthulhu Mythos.

Unlike the fixed third-person perspective of the previous Frogwares title Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring, The Awakened's gameplay takes place in an entirely real-time 3D landscape and from a first-person perspective, losing the pre-rendered backgrounds of its predecessor.

Although the game has adopted the view popularized by the first-person shooter genre, it retains the point-and-click aspect of most adventure games, giving the player the ability to complete the game using the mouse alone.

[edit] Storyline

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Level 1 As the game Starts Sherlock Is lamenting the lack of any intresting crimes after going to a bookshop he finds Watson The Servent of one of his patients has gone missing after searching the scene Sherlock determines he was Drugged and kidnapped finding fish scales on the ground he realises one of the Criminals must Work at the Thames Harbour

Level 2 after talking to various pepole he meets a woman whose son has also gone missing he speaks with a criminal and finds out where all the kidnapped have been taken breaking into a warehouse they find a stone temple in the cellar in there they find beds and Opiates leading them to belive the pepole here were drugged he also finds a box with a Black Edelweiss on and a horibly mutilated body finding a passport he determines this mans name is Amos Colby after making notes of the odd symbols him and Watson return to Baker Street Sherlock determines the Edelwiss is a logo of a medical company returning to the harbour they find its name is The Black Edelwiss institute and that it is based in Switzerland

Level 3 Watson and Sherlock travel to Switzerland despite Watsons worrys it will bring back Bad memories At the institute Watson talks to one of the doctors under a cover story just then a man claming to be Amos Colby comes in Watson knowing Amos is dead warns the doctor that that man is an impostor he quickly makes Watson leave and Drags off the fake Amos into the examination room as it turns out the fake Amos is Sherlock and he had planned all this out realsing the doctors will try to sedate him he emptys out the sedative and replaces it with water he pretends to be unconsious and theyy drag him to his cell after picking the lock he goes around the hospital trying to get information from various sources eventualy he Finds a doctor known as Doctor Gygax has been Sending the opiates to London and he is also involved in diamond smuggling in New orleans apearently he performs cruel and violent experiments on patients which include Removing parts of their brains eventualy Dr Gygax realises Sherlock is onto him and Orders the nurses to capture him Sherlock finds Professor Moriarty in one of the cells but he has lost his memory Sherlock convinces him One of the nurses is Sherlock holmes He starts to remember and attacks the nurse Holmes finds Watson but as he is still in his disguise Watson orders him captured Sherlock revels himself and they return to London

Level 4 On the train Sherlock Says that without other leads their only choice is to go to New Orleans while there the Sheriff Tries to make them leve eventualy getting pepole to threaten him and Watson with death after meeting a man named Champagne he tells them that the bank had a jewel sale and a man named Mr Arneson bought most of them going to Arenesons house they find a maid outside she says her her brother works for Mr Areneson and he has been gone for five Days going inside they find Areneson is dead his servent has been killed but the Maids brother is alive he saw a piece of paper belonging to the criminals he rembers the exact numbers Watson follow a trail of blood to the end of a Peir and realise He has been taken into the swamp after talking to Mr Arnesons girlfreind Lucy who works on a pleasure boat She says Mr Areson was saving up money to pay off her Employer and allow her to leave in order to get the money Holmes and Watson need a ring that Mr Arneson has after finding his Disebodied Hand they take the money and using part of it to buy Champagnes boat go out to look for Arneson

Level 5 Traveling through the swamp they find Areneson injured and missing a hand but he is still alive he Sherlock also finds a book writen in a strange language Him and Watson Go back to New orleans and Lucy swears to take care of Mr Arneson untill he is better Sherlock gives the remaning money to Lucys Boss who then agrees to let her free

Level 6 Traveling back to London Sherlock tries to decipher the book when they get back to london they give the book to mr Barnes a book shop owner who has knowlage of ancient history Watson has managed to decipher the numbers that the maids brother gave them going back to the harbour they Check on a map and find that the coordinates point directly to a lighthouse London has being having strange weather recently and the lighthouse is right in the centre of it as they return to London Barnes tells them he has Translated the book and they are planning to perform a ritual in which someone from every nation in the world throws themself from the lighthouse in a certain celestial alignment which is happening at the time This is supposed to bring about the end of the world

Level 7 Going to the lighthouse they find the door completely locked however seing 3 Gysers Sherlock remembers something he read in a book about pirates and following the steps ends up inside the lighthouse through an underground tunnel Sherlock lets Watson in and after fighting 2 pepole who try to stop them they go to the top of the Lighthouse And the sea level rising Watson holds back the Victims while sherlock activates the Lighthouse as he does this the victims snap out of their trance Sherlock and Watson escape the leader of the cult is hit by wave and falls into the rising sea
