Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust is the title of a non-fiction book by Kevin Annett. The book's subtitle is "The Untold Story of the Genocide of Aboriginal Peoples by Church and State in Canada." The book discusses the alleged genocide of aboriginal people in Canada by the Canadian government and the Catholic, Anglican and United Church of Canada. Since its publication in 2001, Annett claims his life has been threatened repeatedly. [1],[2]

The phrase "Canadian Holocaust" is used to draw a comparison with the mass genocide of Jewish and other people in World War II. The book alleges the existence of a planned and systematic campaign for the extermination of non-Christian aboriginal people across Canada.

Much of the evidence advanced by Annett in the book is based on first-hand eyewitness testimonies by survivors of the residential schools, combined with archival documents from the federal Department of Indian Affairs.

There is no relation with the Canadian Holocaust Remembrance Association, which is devoted to the events of the World War II Holocaust.
