Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Krista is recovering from her wounds after the warehouse fight in which she killed Fritz. Marcus gives Krista a mysterious "package" to deliver to a woman named Vanessa, who is very grateful for it. Krista never gets to know what her delivery actually was. Later, she visits her mother and lets her know that she "won't be around for a while" because of Zach, but Krista doesn't reveal she's a vampire now. Outside her mom's house, Krista is picked up by Blade, who feels she is being careless by visiting her mother. In the car, Krista reveals the existence of Aurora to Blade, who demands that she obtain him a sample. Frustrated at Blade's lack of concern, she strikes a deal - she gets Blade a sample of Aurora and Blade leaves her alone to continue her existence as a vampire.

Meanwhile, Blade tracks down the ash-dealer Cain. Cain reveals that he ashed Winston, a high ranking member of the House of Chthon. When Blade asks how he can be sure of who he killed, Cain reveals that he used to be a familiar to the vampire Sands, and that he once observed Winston "serving up a cub scout at a party". Cain tells Blade that Sands got messed up a while back. Blade tells Cain to keep ashing vampires, and takes Cain's money. Blade later meets up with Father Carlyle and gives him the money that he took from Cain. Father Carlyle tries to talk Blade out of killing vampires, and is upset that Blade told Cain to continue ashing vampires when Blade knows that the ash is being sold as an addictive drug. Blade tells the priest that he "takes the good with the bad".

Blade and Shen track down Sands, who survived the experiments that were being conducted by Marcus. They meet up with Sands at a casino, where Shen causes a disturbance while Blade seizes Sands and takes him outside. Out back, Sands reveals that he got caught up in the Aurora project by accident. Sands was at a card game being hosted by vampires from the House of Armaya, whom Sands ended up cheating out of money. Before Sands could leave with the money, a team of vampires led by Chase kidnapped the Armayans and Sands and used them in their experiments. Sands leads Blade and Shen to the now-abandoned lab where they find the mutilated Armayans and end up killing them. For his help, Blade lets Sands go. Shen finds a piece of medical equipment in the abandoned lab which he later tracks to an obstetrician.

Chase convinces Krista to go out with her. The two go to an AA meeting, where they pick up two guys. Chase later kills her date in a dark alley and wants Krista to kill hers as well, but she refuses. Chase chalks up Krista's unwillingness as a nerves from her first public kill and ends up killing Krista's "date" as well.

Meanwhile, Agent Collins is investigating the murder scene caused by Agent Boone. He finds one of Boone's vampire teeth. Not knowing what it is, Collins later researches it on his own without telling anyone else about it. When he holds the tooth into the sun, it vaporizes right in front of his eyes, shocking him.
