[edit] GNAA Vfd
In defense of Ta bu shi da yu, we had a very lengthy discussion, which I started, on the suggestion of a new Vfd. I raised many points that showed that the previous Vfd's and future ones, were suspect in how & why people voted. He was against the whole process of redoing a GNAA Vfd. See GNAA Possible new Vfd comments and GNAA Previous decisions. To his credit, he has made a large effort to ensure this Vfd is done properly, and attempting to review and answer any questionable votes or comments. As for the "Admins only" section, it is appropriate in this case, only because of the trolls, sockpuppets, and phoney edit counts. Everything that has been done so far, is within WP:Vfd guidelines. Please take a moment to read the comments on the pages I listed. Thank you for your understanding. <>Who?¿? 13:10, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your response. I am glad I was able to be of some assistance. Salut. <>Who?¿? 03:03, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia is not a Dictionary
Hey, I don't know if that was serious, but I speak a little German and that would mean, I guess "Wikipedia ist kein Wörterbuch," hope that helps. (Spanish would be "wikipedia no es un diccionario" I guess). :)

[edit] RE: Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Germen/Prejudices about islam
Your "Weak Delete" vote was based on the policy that user pages had to be relevant to Wikipedia. That page is relevant, it's an archive of his post to talk:islamophobia. =) Xaa 22:40, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

I think it should. Since you know more than I do, I'll add a section and you can add in the details. Does that sound okay? -- Essjay · Talk 00:12, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
It's ready for you. Just put it in under "Engaged in disruption of VfD" in the VfD section. -- Essjay · Talk 00:21, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Texas template
I appologize ahead for clogging up your talk page with this.
Recently, User:Ed g2s keeps on changing the Texas template to a plain version and won't explain why. I need you guys to support me to keep the Texas template that has been active.
This is the Texas template that has been active, before that user erased it, see below:
State of Texas | |
---|---|
Capital | Austin |
Regions |
Arklatex | Big Bend | Central Texas | Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex | Deep East Texas | East Texas | Edwards Plateau | Greater Houston | North Texas | Northeast Texas | Piney Woods | Rio Grande Valley | Texas Hill Country | Texas Panhandle | Llano Estacado | Southeast Texas | South Texas | West Texas |
Metropolitan areas |
Abilene | Amarillo | Austin–Round Rock | Beaumont–Port Arthur | Brownsville–Harlingen | College Station–Bryan | Corpus Christi | Dallas–Plano–Irving | El Paso | Fort Worth–Arlington | Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown | Killeen–Temple | Laredo | Longview–Marshall | Lubbock | McAllen–Edinburg–Mission | Midland | Odessa | San Angelo | San Antonio | Sherman–Denison | Texarkana | Tyler | Victoria | Waco | Wichita Falls |
This is the template that User:Ed g2s (that he made) and has been reverting to, see below:
State of Texas | |
---|---|
Capital: | Austin |
Regions: |
Arklatex | Big Bend | Central Texas | Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex | East Texas | Edwards Plateau | Greater Houston | North Texas | Northeast Texas | Piney Woods | Rio Grande Valley | Texas Hill Country | Texas Panhandle | Llano Estacado | Southeast Texas | South Texas | West Texas |

I want you guys to have some input and decide which one is best for Texas. Like I said, I support the colorful template, but Ed g2s has been reverting it without explaination and has threatened to block me if I revert again to the colorful one. I think the colorful one is more aesthetic looking. Ed g2s doesn't seem to think so and keeps on erasing it to a plain version. Also, he's not even from Texas, he's from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Let's have a vote on this on Template talk:Texas. Thank you for everyone's time. – UH Collegian 19:37, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sockpuppet!?
I fully agree with your re-listing of Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/DQN as it only gained four votes the first time around. However, to use it as an opportunity to label myself and another editor as suspected sockpuppets when no justification was even required is both inappropriate and preposterous. Please explain what part of my edit history lead to your assumption; I'm VERY interested to hear it. - Thatdog 20:00, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if I've got it wrong. The reasons I suspect you of socking are as follows:
- First edit only about a month prior to the deletion listing.
- That first edit was on a VfD discussion.
- You've made well over 100 VfD edits.
- On the plus side, you've made a good few article edits. --Tony SidawayTalk 20:09, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
-
- Here's the problem with your means of identifying socks: often, a user will work anonymously until some need to communicate as a full-fledged user comes up. Often, this can happen in conjunction with a VfD, and new users who have just become aware of VfD will often continue to agressively interact with it.
-
- Discouraging new users who wish to participate seems like too high a price to pay for rooting out sockpuppets, no? -Harmil 20:28, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- I think you're right. I'm reconsidering my criteria, which I agree are extremely agressive. I do tend to close late VfDs, which tend to be much longer debates and contain all kinds of nonsense and jiggerypokery. Where the discussion is much shorter it's probably best to just relist rather than try to poke through the editors (which I do as a matter of course) and sort the potential socks from other editors. Doing so on shorter discussions would tend to disadvantage keep voters where this is their first encounter with VfD (although this wasn't the case here). I apologise to User:Thatdog. --Tony SidawayTalk 22:12, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism is an exception to the three-revert rule, see Wikipedia:Three revert rule#Reverting and vandalism, as long as it is plainly vandalism and not an edit war. You should still report the vandalism in any case, however. -- Curps 19:05, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] News from Esperanza
Hello, fellow Esperanzians! This is just a friendly reminder that elections for Administrator General and two advisory council positions have just begun. Voting will last until Friday, December 30, so make sure you exercise your right to vote! Also, I'm pleased to announce the creation of the Esperanza mailing list. I urge all members to join; see Wikipedia:Esperanza/Contact for more information. All you need to do is email me and I will activate your account. This will be a great way to relax, stay in touch, and hear important announcements. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?)

[edit] An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:J-tieupmaki-p.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:J-tieupmaki-p.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Abu Badali 03:13, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey there, thatdog
I'm pretty sure you know already, but if you don't, I'm informing you that you can use templates for licensing issues, instead of adding the xhtml code yourself to your user page. They also automatically add your username to the relevant category. Here's a list of all such templates.
Of course you might have known this for a long while, and you just wanted control over how your user page looks, which makes me in turn an idiot for pointing the above to you. Cheers, anyhow.--Saoshyant talk / contribs (I don't like Wikipedophiles) 12:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Untagged image
An image you uploaded, Image:Fort Worth seal.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 11:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC) —the preceding comment is by OrphanBot (talk • contribs) : Please sign your posts!.
