[edit] Synopsis

As the episode opens, D'Argo has been experiencing Luxan hyper-rage for several days and trying to attack Crichton. Eventually D'Argo takes Aeryn's Prowler down to the nearest planet. The others cautiously follow only to discover he has become peaceful, good-humoured, and completely immersed in the social farming culture of the planet. Every evening, the inhabitants believe it is the final day of the work week and the next day is a rest day, and they accordingly party for much of the evening. However, when the next day arrives, they once again believe it is the final work day of the week and they head out to the fields.

Aeryn escorts Rygel back to Moya after an explosion nearly kills him, while it seems Zhaan also falls under spell of the peaceful bliss D'Argo is under, happy to labour in the fields digging up tannot roots. Aeryn discovers that the explosion was due to Rygel's bodily fluids having become explosive. Crichton meanwhile is assaulted by several residents who insert a large worm through his bellybutton into his abdomen, which gives him abdominal pain but prevents his mind from becoming clouded like everybody else's. They represent a small number of people whose minds are unclouded, and who want Crichton and his ship to help them to escape their enslavement to the tannot root, which is an addictive narcotic that causes feelings of bliss and passivity. Some people forced everyone to eat it and to grow it, and a once prosperous, advanced world has turned into an agricultural prison that is rapidly desertifying as the monocropping destroys the soil.

Aeryn, in order to help Rygel, is forced to engage in scientific research for the first time in her life, and bonds with Pilot as the two share their insecurities about science. Aeryn figures out that the tannot root the residents have been growing, eating, harvesting, and selling, have caused a chemical reaction in Rygel's body that resulted in his fluids becoming explosive.

The Moyans ultimately discover that the Peacekeepers have basically enslaved the population with this drug, forcing them to grow tannot root that is then refined and becomes the chakkan oil that powers all Peacekeeper weapons. They share this information with the people, and urge them to make their own weapons with it, and fight the PKs.
