[edit] Route Details
Route 44 is part of land bridge project of Thailand's southern seaboard. However, the other parts of project have not yet built. Route 44 was slated to connect between seaports at west coast and east coast of Thailand. However, as the locations of seaports did not yet finalized, the route was built only middle part. About 50 km at start and end parts will be constructed when the location of seaports are finalized.
Route 44 is unique in that it was design to accompany other type of transportations. Therefore, both directions are about 100 meter apart. Tracks, pipeline and other type of transportation will be built between road. However, as land bridge project was stalled. There are nothing in the middle of road yet.
Route 44 has no level-intersection. There is only 1 intersection bridge at intersection with Route 41. Other road intersected with will be cut. Drivers from other road will have to turn left into Route 44, make a U-turn and turn left back to original road.
