A text move is an alternative to outright deletion of a passage of text from an article. It typically has two steps:

  1. cutting a passage of text from an article; and,
  2. pasting the text into the article's talk page

A text move, while not limited to moving text to talk pages, often is just that.

Editors attempting text moves should not ignore consensus or try to force their changes by edit warring. It's better to to discuss the disputed passage with other contributors.
