State Highway 57 is a state route that connects SH 155 and Farm to Market Road 2493 on the southwest edge of Tyler. This route runs 1.47 miles and was designated in 1994. There are plans for the highway to be extended west to connect with Segment 3 of the under construction Loop 49.
[edit] Previous routes
SH 57 was originally designated by 1933 on a route along the Gulf Coast from Palacios to near Corpus Christi. By 1938, this route was renumbered as part of SH 35.
It was again designated in 1966 on a route from Eagle Pass to near Moore, replacing SH 76. This route was cancelled in 1971, when the route was redesignated as U.S. Route 57.
