Texas Cryptology Center

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The United States National Security Agency has a satellite campus at the Medina Annex, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, which some in the media have called the Texas Cryptology Center. It is adjacent to the former Medina National Stockpile Site.

Also located at Medina Annex is the Medina Regional SIGINT Operations Center (RSOC), which includes the Regional Technical Control and Analysis Element (TCAE). It is not clear whether the Texas Cryptology Center is a different entity from the RSOC. The Medina RSOC is known to house 2200 Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and civilian Department of Defense employees, including two squadrons of the 67th Intelligence Wing -- the 543rd Intelligence Group and the 93rd Intelligence Squadron.

In 2005 the NSA leased a nearby defunct chip plant from Sony at Loop 410 and Military Drive[1] and announced plans to more than double the number of employees over the next 2-3 years, but as of late 2006 these plans have been put on hold due to funding difficulties.
