Texas Campaign for the Environment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Texas Campaign for the Environment is an organization that works on health and environmental issues in the state of Texas.
It has of late focused primarily on the ill effects of electronic waste and its impact on Texas water sources. The campaign made headlines in 2005 when it successfully pressured Dell and Apple to recycle for consumers. The organization itself, currently headed by Robin Schnieder, has been operating since 1991 and is based out of both Dallas and Austin.
The primary tool of TCE is the field canvass. Five to six days a week, TCE organizers head out into Texas residential areas and go door-to-door educating citizens on current issues and getting them involved by collecting membership contributions and having them write letters to corporate, federal, state and local figures. TCE has won numerous awards and is a leading voice on environmental issues in Texas.
