Texans for Public Transportation

Texans for Public Transportation (TPT) was a Political Action Committee that advocated referendums expanding the controversial Houston, Texas METRORail system in 2003.

The organization was accused of having conflicts of interest during the campaign in a story by the Houston Review. TPT was given over $100,000 in contributions from contractor firms who receive business from METRORail's construction including Siemens, which manufactures the trains, and several architectural firms involved in designing the system's tracks.[1]

Critics of the organization have also criticised Houston's only major daily newspaper, the Houston Chronicle, for allegedly ignoring the controversy over TPT, while giving intense scrutiny to a competing anti-rail group, Texans for True Mobility (TTM). [2][3]
