Welcome to the portal to Wikipedia's content on the textile arts. Textiles have been a fundamental part of human life since the beginning of civilization, and the methods and materials used to make them have expanded enormously, while remaining fundamentally the same.
Yarn is a long continuous length of interlocked fibers, suitable for use in the production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving and ropemaking. Yarn is any fiber used to construct a fabric, whereas thread is any fiber used to sew two pieces of fabric together. (more...)
