Talk:Tessitura
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
guys, it seems this article seems completely wrong to me. I just don't want to edit it, because I'm not sure wether the term tessitura is used differently in English and German (I'm German, student of musicology). Tessitura refers to the sound quality of pitches in the different ranges of an instrument. For example, tenor and alto sax can play the same pitch, but for the tenor sax this tone would be very high, for the alto it would be low. Though they are playing the same tone and the construction of the instruments is the same, they sound different - one can speak of tension or sharpness here.
Im just whelsh (I thought that was appropriate)
