Born Jan. 9, 1950, Georgia State Representative Terry Johnson (D-Marietta) is a lifelong resident of District 37, and a fifth generation Cobb Countian. He and his wife of 34 years, the former Nancy Bobell, are both Osborne High School alumnae. Rep. Johnson graduated from the Real Estate Institute after attending Southern Polytechnic University in Marietta.

The father of two college graduates, Rep. Terry Johnson is fully committed to our children, their education and their future. Endorsed for the second consecutive term by the Georgia Association of Educators, Rep. Johnson was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees for Truett McConnell College, a four-year Georgia Baptist college, and he is also a founding member of the Osborne High School Foundation. Serving as director of the Cobb ARC, a non-profit agency formed in 1956 to provide for the needs of families who have children with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities, Rep. Johnson is currently a member of the Osborne High School Task Force. A former volunteer youth baseball coach at Milford Park, he is past president of the Osborne High School PTSA and past president of Osborne's Track and Cross Country Booster Club.

An active participant in many civic organizations, Rep. Johnson is former president of the Milford Optimist Club. He has held positions on the Citizens’ Advisory Committee, the EMC Credentials Committee and the Cobb Extension Advisory Board. Currently a deacon at Milford Baptist Church, he has also served as the church’s Chairman of Trustees and a Sunday School teacher.

Now in his second term, State Rep. Terry Johnson first served Cobb County in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2000. He has held positions on many committees, including Children and Youth, Human Relations and Aging, Industrial Relations, Defense & Veterans Affairs and Natural Resources & Environment.

Rep. Johnson has been a nationally designated commercial real estate broker for 32 years. He and Nancy are the proud parents of two grown boys, Brett and Pat, and are long-time members of Milford Baptist Church.
