Terrible Herbst, or Terrible Herbst Oil Company, is a privately held gaming and gas station company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the second largest[1]
The company operats gas stations in Nevada, California and Arizona.

Terrible Herbst Gaming was founded in 1987.

On December 8, 2002, Terrible Herbst Gaming agreed to buy International Game Technology's Anchor Coin 1,100 machine slot route.
In February 2005, Herbst acquired the St. Jo Frontier, Mark Twain Casino, and Lakeside Casino.
In May of 2006 Sands Regent announced plans be acquired by Terrible Herbst Gaming.
On October 31, 2006 Herbst Gaming announced plans to acquire most of the assest of the Primm Valley Resorts from MGM Mirage for $400 million. The purchase does not include the Primm Valley Golf Club.[4]
In January of 2007, the company purchased four casinos including the Sands Regent and Rail City Casino for $119 million.
