Terrance Simien

Terrance Simien is a zydeco musician, accordionist and song writer. He was born on September 3, 1965 and spent his early life in Mallet, Louisiana. As a teenager, Simien learned to play the accordion and formed his own band in 1982. In 1984, he gained attention of Paul Simon during a performance at the New Orleans World's Fair. Two years later, in 1986, he collaborated with Simon on the release of a single based on Clifton Chenier's hit song You Used to Call Me. Terrance and his band, the Mallet Playboys, reached the silver screen in 1987 when they appeared as a zydeco band in the movie The Big Easy. He is considered to be one of the most innovative and prolific zydeco music performers of modern times.
