Tequila Sunrise is a 1988 movie written and directed by Oscar-winner Robert Towne. It stars Mel Gibson, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kurt Russell. The supporting cast includes Raul Julia, J.T. Walsh, Arliss Howard, Arye Gross, and Gabriel Damon.
Damon was nominated for the "Best Young Actor Supporting Role in a Motion Picture" Young Artist Award, and cinematographer Conrad L. Hall won an American Society of Cinematographers award for "Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Theatrical Releases".
The official motion picture soundtrack features some jazz cuts by Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour and David Sanborn. It also features great songs by The Church -("Unsubstantiated") and Crowded House -("Recurring Dream"). Bobby Darrin's Beyond the Sea is on the soundtrack as well.

Plot
Mac Mckussic is an unlikely drug dealer who wants to go straight. His old and best friend Nick Frescia is now a cop who is assigned to investigate and bring him to justice. Mac is very attracted to Jo Ann, the owner of a stylish restaurant. Nick gets close to Jo Ann attempting to know more about Mac's drug dealing plans and his connections with the Mexican dealer Carlos, who the police believe is coming to town to meet with him. Nick also falls for Jo Ann's charms and his friendship with Mac is in danger.
