Wikipedia:Ten-million pool
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a pool for predicting the date at which the number of articles (as defined by the official article count presented on the Special:statistics) in the English Wikipedia reaches 10,000,000 (ten million). The person who comes closest to the actual date is the winner (of eternal fame). The current number of articles in the English Wikipedia is 1,712,046.
This pool will be closed for entries when the English Wikipedia article count reaches 5,000,000, so be sure to place your guess before then. This pool opened on March 1, 2006, shortly after the 1,000,000th article was created.
For non-serious topical pools, see Wikipedia:Millionth topic pool and Wikipedia:Two-millionth topic pool.

[edit] Never
- Never. In 2013 or 2014 the maximum of 5 milion (see [1]) or 6 million articles will be reached. At that time any edit on wikipedia can only done by referencing at least 4 independend sources. HenkvD 19:37, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- On January 1, 2018, the United Nations will unanimously vote to shut down the Internet, agreeing that it has done much more harm than good to human society. Wikipedia's 20,000+ featured articles will be printed in a ten-volume encyclopedia, and the rest of the database will be stored on microfilm in the New York Public Library. For decades afterwards sociologists will examine the millions of talk page archives, trying to figure out what it was about the Internet that made it so impossible to produce good things, but eventually this research will be halted for lack of funding. Ashibaka tock 18:07, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- Never. I agree with HenkvD. DarthVader 08:50, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Never. I would agree with Henkvd, the maximum is 5-6 million (and the edit-requirement may also be correct), but unfortunately Ashibaka is right, but unfortunately again this will happen as early as 2008. Make your Personal backup in late 2007-- ExpImptalkcon 01:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Never, ever. Simply impossible.
