Tensilica was incorporated in July of 1997 by executives and technologists from the microprocessor, software development tool, semiconductor and design automation fields. The company develops configurable microprocessor cores, configured microprocessor cores, and related IP for SOC designs. Tensilica's processor cores are optimized for and used in embedded system applications such as set-top boxes, networking equipment such as routers and switches, consumer electronics products such as mobile telephone handsets and music players, wireless communications, and audio and video processing.
