Tenon's capsule

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tenon's capsule is a dense, collagenous layer of fascia that surrounds the posterior half of the eye. The capsule lies between the eye and the orbital fat and functions to support the eye within the orbit. It attaches anteriorly to the sclera and posteriorly fuses with the meninges around the optic nerve. Tenon's capsule is thickest in the region of the insertions of the extraocular muscles.
