The TenderCrisp chicken was introduced in 2004.

[edit] Advertising

The TenderCrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch sandwich was promoted in the United States by a 2005 [1] television advertising campaign directed by David LaChapelle and featuring recording artist Darius Rucker (of Hootie and the Blowfish) singing a country-style jingle to the tune of "Big Rock Candy Mountain." The ad also starred television presenter Brooke Burke, model Vida Guerra, and members of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Additionally, the spot featured cameos by The Burger King and The Subservient Chicken, two characters from past Burger King television commercials.

Some critics have pointed out that the advertisement seemed to have little to do with sandwiches, employing a variety of scantily clad women and sexual innuendo, with lines such as "There’s a train of ladies comin’ with a nice caboose" coinciding with scenes that enforce the double entendres. The jingle proved to be quite popular on some internet communities, thereby helping the sandwich to develop somewhat of a cult-like following.

[edit] Competitive products

The TenderCrisp Sandwich's main competition are the Wendy's line of Chicken Temptations sandwiches and the McDonald's Premium Chicken Sandwich line.
