Talk:Tench class submarine

[edit] Bifocals?
I question this spec:
- Displacement: 1826 tons surfaced, 2391 tons submerged
I've got a copy of Lenton's American Submarines, & he puts Tench around the same size as Gato & Balao, as you'd expect, since the design isn't much different (heavier frames & skins, not longer or beamier, maybe a bit more equipment). Explain, somebody? (Of course, whoever put these specs up also had her with 4x6500hp, so how much credence can I give these numbers...?) Trekphiler 19:22, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wahoo
Why is the Wahoo listed twice under the list of Tench subs? Noha307 20:43, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- There were actually three of them: SS238 (a Gato), & 2 replacements, both Tench-class, SS-518 & SS-516, both cancelled at MINY Vallejo late in the war as surplus to needs. [edit] Electrifying
I added the battery makers, again from Lenton; the dived range, see Gato Trekphiler 21:22, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
