I think a few articles with the same information but slightly different title should be merged to this one, as it is the proper name for the film -- Corey.spring 00:07, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Just merged The Pick of Destiny with this one... --Johnnyw 23:26, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stolen Plot Summary

The plot summary written in this section is a barely paraphrased copy of the Ain't It Cool News review of the movie (viewable here. Yes, it does "source" the article, but it is not usually common Wikipedia practice to have such a blatant ripoff.

Or maybe I'm just being anal. Thoughts? jopari

No, you’re not being anal. It’s a copyright violation, whether cited or not. Thanks for pointing it out. It’s a shame no one noticed it sooner. --Rob Kennedy 07:11, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Luckily I submitted my own plot summary, which, though rather lengthy, is original. Too bad it wasn't left on the wiki-page... AceOHearts 13:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC)AceOHearts

[edit] Release Date

Just a bit confused about the release date, article says 14th Nov but infobox says 22nd. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks EJaY 19:58, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

The album is released November 14, the movie starts November 17, but us here in Australia have to wait until the 27th DAMN MY LOCATION hope that helps Tenacious Nick 21:50 25 October 2006

Damn, in Perth the cinemas have it scheduled for January! Metao 02:33, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Soundtrack track listing

I think the track listing for the soundtracks should not be in this article since it is already in the soundtrack's article, which is linked on this page. What are others opinions on the matter? Joltman 17:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I was hoping that they played the song "Tribute", i think this would have fitted well into the storyline, especially at the end where they defeated the devil, and couldnt remember the "greatest song in the world", it would have been a very nice ending, it was disappointing it never happened though! :( Anonymous, 18:05, 21 February 2007 (GMT)

[edit] Sasquatch reference

The reference to Sasquatch is not from the Spider-Man song. There are many different versions of their Spider-Man cover in which Spider-Man faces off against various people (depending on what version you hear). Furthermore, Tenacious D has a song about Sasquatch himself and is even featured in the episode of their television series entitled Death of a Dream. Carface 23:13, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia?

An interesting point that could be included in the article under trivia or some other title is that the devil during his solo in the rockoff uses a guitar that is notably similar to Dimebag Darrels ML Dean, its got the the same shape, lightning bolts and everything. Im not going to do it since having one little point isnt worth (IMO) making a whole header in the article. \m/ The Ravager 17:41, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why the movie failed

1.) Up against Borat 2.) It sucked. 3.) Jack Black isn't funny as his fans think he is. 24.60.163.16 03:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Congrats, Loser. No one cares what you think. The movie was fine from a general view.
It's typical for a JB fan to think that way. Most audiences thought the movie sucked. Thus it bombed. Bong of destiny indeed. 24.60.163.16 16:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, you've given three reasons as to why YOU think the movie "failed". Remember, if you can, this is an encyclopedia, and is only interested in FACTS or what industry experts have to say about the film. You have given us neither. PowderedToastMan 03:48, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Who cares what industry experts have to say about the film? What gives thier opinions priviledge? The movie has failed with audiences. It a bomb that fizzled when it flopped. 24.60.163.16 16:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

"1.) Up against Borat 2.) It sucked. 3.) Jack Black isn't funny as his fans think he is."

someone sure thinks highly of THEIR opinion huh?

anyway? can we really say they DEFEATED the devil? I mean he was going to take K.G. back to Hell but J.B. deflected his blow, I don't think their jam was as good but I think that was the point.

Eh, this will probably become a cult hit anyway. Schizmatic 23:16, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Someone's missing the point of the talk pages. Did he really come here thinking we'd devote a section to how he thought the movie "sucked" in an encyclopedic article, or did he just want to start a fight?--Agent Aquamarine 23:37, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Here is why it failed!

Most people i've talked to said that the preview was lame (i agree, it wasn't funny). Based on that, many people avoided seeing it. They shouldn't have because it was actually pretty funny!

My personal opinion of why people think poorly of this film is because so much of it is sung that you need to be attuned to the lyrics of Tenacious D to get the full benefit of the film. Id rather watch this again than borat.--Pypex 23:22, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Opinions, no matter how objective one can bend them to be, don't help matters. The viable reasons for poor performance do seem to hinge on its stiff competition (Borat, then again, that could be said for any other movie opening that weekend, etc.) and disappointing word-of-mouth/printed reviews but the latter would need evidence to support the notion that most people reading unfavourable reviews had chosen to not see it based solely on what they read. All things aside, eliminating the reasons and rephrasing that section of the article until some cited proof can turn up might be a route to consider, despite the obvious lead-in here by a troll looking to spark such a debate. 71.156.85.133 01:56, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

guys stop arguing everyone has their own opinion i know wew can all say that this movie was retarted and stupid and thats why we love many people like that knid of comedy that my eb theier sense of humor and then againf or many people it isnt we should all just respect each others opinions —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Super Mario Bro (talkcontribs).

[edit] Bad Link

Demons and Wizards leads to the wrong link. You want the Uriah Heep album not the Blind Guardian/Iced Earth side project.

[edit] Survey - in support of the move

  1. Support The correct name has "in" in the title. TJ Spyke 00:09, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Survey - in opposition to the move

  1. Oppose due to incorrect punctuation. The current name is wrong, but so is the proposal. There's no colon in the title, the correct title is Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. If you want to move to that correct version (without punctuation) then I support that. Saikokira 03:19, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
