Heyo. My name is Alex Temple. Here's a little about me

Contents

[edit] General Background

I'm 15 years old, and a resident of West Springfield MA, and a sophmore at West Springfield High School.

In terms of heritage, I'm Irish, Sicilian and Hungarian. The Irish part o' me comes from County Cork, my ancestors (the O'Reilly family) came to West Side during the potato famine years and have yet to leave. The Sicilan part of me comes from the town of Barrafranca in Enna, and my Hungarian quarter comes from the capitol city of Budapest.

I will now tell you more about my interest and hobbies, that is, if you're interested.

[edit] History

I am a history freak. Everything I do I connect to history in one way or antoher, which really annoys people.

All history intrests me, but three fields in particular comsume all my spare time. These are Military History, American History, and Ninteenth Century World History. If you put all three of these fields together, you can find out what my favorite particular even is. This is the American Civil War. I have spent almost all of the money I've ever earned on either Civil War Books (I have a library of about 80) or my civil War re-enactor's uniform (I have a whole Union one and about half of a Confederate one). But it must be remembered I am a Yankee. (And that has nothing to do with baseball!)

Military history is my first prefrence. I believe Napoleon is the greatest general ever, in spite of the fact that he was a Frenchman. I'm a fan of Alexander, Hannibal, Caesar, Gustavus Adolphus, The Duke of Marlborough, Frederick the Great, The Duke of Wellington, Robert E. Lee, Erwin Rommel and George Patton.

U.S. history is my second favorite topic. When it comes to the Revolution I'm a fan of pretty much everybody (the only one that falls out of favor is Arnold, for obvious reasons). For the sons of the Revolution, I'm a big Jacksonian, but at the same time I like Henry Clay, I think James K. Polk is the most under-rated president in history too.

Now comes the Civil War. I'm not even gonna get started on this topic because I know I'll never finish.

Nineteeth Centruy World History appeals to me because of Imperialism, which I think was an awesome thing, becasue of all the cool battles that resulted. (Like Rorke's Drift) By the way, I don't mean Nineteeth Century in its litteral meaning (1800-1899). I'm talking about the era that began with the French Revolution and ended with World War I. (1789-1918)

[edit] Music

I'm a part-time musician. I play bass and banjo, but not very well. I listen to a bunch of stuff, like Beethoven, Rage Against the Machine, the 2nd South Carolina String Band (there's the history refrence), Johnny Cash, the Gorillaz and the Who.

[edit] Sports

I'm a JV wrestler at 125 for WSHS. I used to play golf back when I had clubs and a course, and I'm a big New York Giants fan for the NFL.
