Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ was founded March 6, 1975 by pastor Gilbert E. Patterson in Memphis, Tennessee. It is one of the largest churches in the Church of God in Christ, a Pentecostal Christian denomination with over 17,000 members. It is the home church of the former Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, and Bountiful Blessings Ministries (name that was inspired by Bishop Patterson's wife, Evangelist Louise D. Patterson). Their church services are carried on satellite by the Black Entertainment Television and Trinity Broadcast Network. The church also owns 1480 AM WBBP Radio Station, and Podium Records.

Bishop G. E. Patterson died on March 20, 2007 at the Methodist University Hopsital in Memphis.

The same name is also used by a church located in Topeka, Kansas. That city is notable as the location where the Pentecostal movement has its origins in 1901.
