Temple Moor High School Science College, or simply Temple Moor High School, is a school in West Yorkshire, England (UK). In recent years, it has achieved its 'Science College' status[1]

The School is oversubscribed every year, and currently has a roll of around 1240 pupils.[2]

The school has seen outstanding GCSE and A-level results in the past, and is heavily subscribed.[citation needed] However, in its last Ofsted inspections it received a grade 3, which is average.[3] In recent years, at least 95% of students have achieved GCSE/GNVQs[4]

  • The school celebrated its 50th anniversary on 13th October, 2006.
  • The 2006-2007 term saw the reintroduction of a House System, with the houses named after stars. The houses colours are on the tie of students from each house (except Sirius, who have a grey tie). The houses are:
  • The houses compete in regular competitions - the current leading house is Vega.
    • The original House System featured the names of local families of historial renown: Manston (red), Scargill (white), Dunstan (yellow) and DeLacy (purple). The DeLacy family, for example, is associated with Temple Newsam, an estate and country house, located nearby from which the school derived it's name and also its Templar Cross emblem.
  • It is reported as being one of the most over subscribed schools in the country[citation needed].
