Telly Addicts was a game show which ran from 1985 to 1998 on BBC1, hosted by Noel Edmonds. All questions were on television programmes past and present, and generally took the form of a short clip being shown followed by a series of questions either specifically about the clip or more generally about the programme from which it had been taken. Two teams sat opposite each other on sofas.

[edit] Original Format (1985 - 1986)

The first 2 series of Telly Addicts had 2 teams (Champions side) and (Challengers side), (Challengers side) have to try and beat (Champions side) to win as (Champions side) but if (Champions side) beat (Challengers side) they keep their (Champions side) in the next episode to see if (Challengers side) can knock them off. This had a Keynotes type of style.

[edit] New Format (1987 - 1998)

Unlike the first 2 series, Telly Addicts changed the format into a much more Gladiators type of style. It had 16 teams in 8 qualifying heats, The 8 winning teams of the qualifying heats will go into the Quarter-Finals, The 4 winning teams of the Quarter-Finals will go into the Semi-Finals, The 2 winning teams of the Semi-Finals will go into the Grand Final, and the winning team of the Grand Final becomes the champions. This proved to be popular with the viewers and it became a regular ever since.
