"Tell Me a Story (About the Night Before)" is the first single from Hilary Duff's debut album, Santa Claus Lane, which was released by Walt Disney Records. The single was released on October 14, 2002; it was not released for retail sale, but as a radio single. The song was originally meant to be recorded with rapper Lil' Bow Wow, but because of complications it was switched to a duet with rapper Lil' Romeo.[citation needed]
The single's video was released almost exclusively to the Disney Channel and received heavy airplay on the channel. The video featured Duff and Romeo in a recording booth singing the track with snow falling in the booth. Later they are shown in a long hallway singing, and a large crowd of dancing people enter the booth when they finish the song.
